Zero Turn Mowers Vs. Cordless Lawn Mowers

Both zero turn mowers and cordless lawn mowers serve their purpose. There are advantages and disadvantages with both choices and neither is definitively better than the other.

In general, I will prefer zero turn lawn mowers. This is simply because with these products, you have access to exponentially more power and potential. You can easily cover many acres and do the job rather quickly if you’re using something like the Husqvarna MZ61. A vehicle such as this will provide you with 27 HP and a ton of versatility. The downside is that these vehicles are pretty bulky and can’t get into small spaces. For residential lawns, you can certainly make the argument that cordless mowers are more useful.

The argument for zero turn mowers

For most people, it makes a lot more sense to buy a zero turn mower. This is true because they are faster, more efficient, and better at getting the job done. When you factor in the cost, many would be put off and go with a regular lawn mower. Depending on how much value a zero turn lawn mower would bring to your life, you can determine whether or not it is worth the purchase. For people with large areas of grass (such as those with farms), this type of mower is highly recommended. Mowing the lawn is a job that can be done relatively quickly using one of these vehicles.

  • Faster mowing of the lawn
  • More power
  • More efficient
  • Better for larger areas

The argument for cordless lawn mowers

Cordless lawn mowers are extremely cheaper to purchase when compared to a zero turn mowing vehicle. They can be even 10X cheaper, making them a much more convenient purchase for the average family. We all know though that this does not necessarily make it a better option. If you have a smaller lawn and/or you don’t mow all that often, then clearly this would be a better choice for you. For those with large lawns that take multiple hours to mow the traditional way, you may want to consider a riding lawn mower. This is the case if you want to save time and money in the long run.

  • Significantly cheaper to purchase
  • Much more mobile
  • More practical for smaller areas
  • Easier to use

Ending the debate

The truth is that in this debate, there is no clear-cut winner. They are both winners under different circumstances. In many cases zero turn mowers will be better suited for you, but there are also many cases when it may not be worth the steep price. There are probably more people in the world in need of cordless lawn mowers instead of large riding mowers. Not everyone has enormous properties that they must take care of and buying a riding mower would seem unnecessary to these individuals.
