Husqvarna’s MZ61 lawn mower is quite similar to the Z246. The biggest difference between the two is the power upgrade – the MZ61 has 27 HP compared to the 23 HP engine of the Z246. That does not instantly make it the superior zero turn mower though. Do not underestimate the pure versatility and capabilities of it’s counterpart. The product was lower on this list of mowers for a reason. It would be unfair to say that it was outright worse because the matter is subjective however many agree that it is not as elite as the big brother.
Performance
The MZ61 has perhaps the highest level of performance of any zero turn lawn mower we have reviewed this year. The closest would probably be the Kohler. 27 horsepower may not seem like a lot because we are conditioned to much higher figures with our own cars. However, this figure is certainly very respectable in terms of a lawn mower. Once you ride this machine you realize just how strong a lawn mower can be. Speed, strength, and decent efficiency. What more could you ask of a zero turn mower? Without a doubt it is one of the most performant zero turn mowers so far.
Maneuverability & Mobility
This is really the only area where the mower isn’t excellent in. Mobility is very important to me, and this took a big hit on the score of the MZ61. Because it is rather large, maneuvering it isn’t the easiest task and it certainly isn’t the quickest lawn mower you’ll experience. Patience is definitely a virtue when using this zero turn mower. At higher speeds and on bigger lots the disparity is less noticeable. Generally speaking, the vehicle is best suited for commercial purposes but could definitely be used on smaller projects as well. It isn’t quite as mobile as the Ariens 42.
Comfortability
Again, no issues here. Most people in this industry are well aware of the level of excellence by Husqvarna. Their attention to detail is fantastic and it is apparent in this product. Since it seems to have been made for projects that are typically not short in nature, the design of the seating had to be comfortable, just like the IKON. Now, it’s important to understand that it isn’t a leather sofa by any stretch of the imagination, but for a zero turn mower it is quite great. It is also easily more comfortable than this Poulan Pro.
Durability
Husqvarna’s lawn mowers have always stood the test of time. It comes as no surprise that the lawn mower has lasted as long as it did and is still going strong. Rain, wind, and dirt cannot stop this machine from persevering and I can’t really think of any element that can. If you’re thinking of purchasing this product, do not worry about its level of durability. The mower is strong and is built to last.
To Conclude
Husqvarna’s MZ61 is an excellent product. In fact, it is one of the very best zero turn mowers of the year. The vehicle does have its downfalls though – the maneuverability is not the strongest aspect of this mower. If mobility is your game, check out cordless mowers. Such is also the case with Troy-Bilt’s product. This means that the mobility is hindered, and mobility is an enormous part of owning a great zero turn mower. Is it a good lawn mower? We surely believe so and it definitely is an amazing commercial zero turn mower. Because of its weaknesses, we cannot put it as high as it deserves on our list of best mowers.
